SCREENSHOTS — Half-Life Series

Half-Life is classic. It's also old. However, mods and fan-made remastering help the series age well. These screenshots come from the new Black Mesa, a revamped original Half-Life plus extra beautiful Xen levels to flesh out the ending and give more sense to how one alien race had enslaved another. The pictures also include Half-Life 2, plus episodes, employing MMod—which looks excellent, with enhanced visual effects and models. The mod also sounds terrific! If you reload your weapon and press the reload button again, the game has your character flourish the weapon to see more detail. For the shotgun, this showing off includes a crisp slide rack sound effect that I couldn't get enough of, so I spammed reload every time I had it selected.
