SCREENSHOTS — Firewatch

It has been years since I've played Firewatch. The game is a narrative, a journey, whereas most other games involve skill or strategy. The writing is smart, like the game Gone Home, where the story makes you think one thing only for you to discover later it's something much different. In Firewatch, you advance the plot by exploring the forest while having walkie-talkie conversations with an unseen coworker. National forests inspired the environment, and the game reflects that wonderfully: rugged tree-studded cliffs, cerulean vistas, and vibrant sunsets.
